Today was a huge accomplishment. Today was the day I walked into my living room and realized I could see every surface. I walked into the dining room and there was nothing but a table and centerpiece. I walked into my kitchen where only two cabinets hold dishes and pots, and two drawers hold silverware and utensils. This is huge for me!
My bedroom remains, but the rest of the house has lost so much. It’s amazing. My front room is stuffed full of items I’m selling or donating. Once I finally rid myself of those items I will finally be able to sigh in relief. It’s sad to say but I’m actually looking forward to moving again!
The story behind that is I’ve never stayed in one place for more than a year, until my current home. I’ve managed to stay in this home for two years now and have managed to acquire hundreds of items I just don’t need. When I realized how much I had accumulated I had a minor panic attack thinking back to all my previous moves. In the past every time I moved I would pay for a months worth of rent in both locations, giving me a full month to pack and move (and I needed every day of it). This seemed smart at the time, but my bank always hurt afterwards from paying the two different rents. Once I officially remove the items in my front room I will easily be able to move in one day. The biggest pain will be the larger furniture items (bed, dresser, couch).
Since I have decided to move to a life of minimalism I find the stress and anxiety in my life is slowly dripping away. It’s truly amazing how big of a relief one feels when they finally eliminate so much clutter from their life.
