Increasing Your Productivity

It has always been easier for me to work in an uncluttered environment but I never realize how much more productive my minimalist lifestyle would make me.  Like most other people, I still had quite a bit of “stuff” on my desk and in my office before I started my journey.  This stuff included pencil cup, phone, in/out baskets, calculator, tape, and of course my computer monitor, keyboard, mouse and a bunch of other things that I honestly don’t remember why I had them on my desk.  Today it just has my computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, phone, scratch pad with my task list for the day, pen and my glass of water.  That’s it.  I have a big old oak desk with a credenza that sits behind it and that is all that is on my desktop.  Oh and one more thing.  A smooth stone that has the word “Believe” engraved on it.  And I love it this way.

As I am writing this post, which was number 2 on my list for today, I have a clear, calm mind.  The words flow easily for me and my focus is 100% on writing.  When you focus all your attention AND intentions in the direction of your goal, you complete it quickly and effortlessly.

As many of you know, I currently own several businesses.  Without my daily task list and my clean desk, I would not be able to accomplish the many things I do within a day.  And I generally take several breaks during the day to do odds and ends around the house and the farm, and will leave the office before 5 every day.  Many days I am able to leave the office before 3.   I do not work on the weekends.  Many people do not comprehend how I can get as much done as I do in a day and I can honestly tell you it’s from an uncluttered mind which comes from an uncluttered environment.

I am in the office before 7 every morning after I wake naturally and have fed the many animals I have.  I do not set an alarm.  The first thing I do when I walk into my office is to review the task list that I wrote BEFORE I left the office the day before.  That is a large factor in my organization.  I work from a task list that I wrote the day before.  Not only does it clear these items from my mind when I leave the office, but I also know where I must begin first thing in the morning.

For me, the ease of my day began with an organized office.  When your office is organized, your work schedule is organized.  When work flows smoothly, you have the time to focus fully on your personal life and relationships.  Not all of these tips may work for you but I encourage you to try a few.  You may be pleasantly surprised with how easy your day flows.

I’ve just checked another task off my list 🙂

Blessings,

Denise
