We all know the sayings, there’s always someone to keep up with. And I’m sure we’re all aware of the consequences from keeping up with such-and-such. That $400 car payment, $300 credit card payment, $1000 mortgage payment, etc. is plenty proof of the consequences. Next thing you know you’re spending three times more than what you make, when it should be the other way around. Read our article How To Pay Off Debt Living Minimally.

Find Happiness:

There’s a reason why minimalism is growing in popularity. It’s not the latest trend or the newest form of fashion – it’s a lifestyle. Many have found the benefits that minimalism provides and are taking full advantage.

It’s time to take back our wallets and stop listening to what we’re told we should own. Material items have begun to measure happiness, and that’s not the way it should be. Happiness should be measured by memories, smiles, laughs, etc… not possessions that can be taken away from you without a moment’s notice.

For those who have decided a life of minimalism is right for them, I have only one rule for you:

Find happiness in whatever you choose to do. If you don’t find happiness, it’s not worth doing.

There’s always exceptions to any rule. But as a general rule of thumb, if something is making you unhappy, it’s time you re-evaluate whether that “thing” should remain in your life. This goes for people, places, jobs, material possessions, and so on.
