Choosing a Business for your Minimalist Lifestyle

Have you been simplifying your life and enjoying your new minimalist lifestyle?  Have you decided it is now time to take a step away from driving to work every day and start your own business but not sure where to start?  First let me tell you good for you!!!  Becoming self employed was the best decision I ever made for myself and even with the ups and downs, I have never regretted it.

So what should you do?  That is one of the hardest decisions you will make on your journey to owning your own business.  There are several ways you can go about deciding which business you should build:

  • What do you enjoy?  Can you launch a business from your hobby or activities?  Many people start here.  If you love to exercise, how about fitness wear or  nutrition business (that’s what I do for one of my businesses).  Loving living off the grid?  Survival gear or how to information business.  Tell people how you got to where you are.  Follow your passion.
  • What is your career experience?  Are you a top performer in sales?  Crunch numbers better than anyone you know?  Organization is your knack?  An amazing social marketer?  Take that career experience and turn it into a business where you make money for yourself based on your services or as a consultant.
  • Consider a franchise.  Franchises have already worked through the ups and downs of starting a business eliminating the learning curve for you.
  • Study your local market.  Is there something missing locally that you can provide?  Really think about this one because if people are able to buy locally it benefits all of us.
  • If you truly cannot think of anything, search the internet for start up businesses.  One may just feel right for you.

Not matter what you decide, keep in mind that you are not going to work 1 or 2 hours a day and spend the rest of the time on vacation.  Starting a business takes time and consistency to get where you want to go.  Put the time into your business just as you would going to a job where you would put in 40 hours.

Let me be the first to tell you congratulations on your small business!

Blessings,

Denise
